Dreamtime
Dreamtime is a spacesynth project founded by Lauri Turjansalo in 2003. He started to make music in the late 90's using tracker programs, notably Triton's legendary Fasttracker 2. He made a lot of remixes of old game music as Cirdan. He also churned out some original compositions, mostly straightforward synth tunes. But in the end he felt that he wanted to move on to more advanced ways of making music. In 2000 he was introduced to mysteries of MIDI and synthesizers. It took him some time to get a hang of it but eventually he succeeded. Also somewhere in the late 90's Lauri heard music by a German band Tangerine Dream. Their music had a significant impact on him, especially albums Tangram and Rubycon.
Spacesynth was something that he had unconsciously looking for for a long time. When he heard Laserdance for the first time, it was instant love. Lauri became fairly active on Internet and thought that this music style needed a stronger community.
A short list of some other music that has either been influencing him or is heavily being played by him: Global Communication, Ozric Tentacles, Shpongle, Paul Lawler (aka Arcane, Max van Richter), Iron Maiden, Angelo Badalamenti, Jerry Goldsmith, Air, Mark Shreeve, Chris Hülsbeck, John Carpenter, Klaus Schulze, Vince DiCola, Depeche Mode.
Lauri is also one of the administrators of this website.
