best guess -- no change in spacesynth music.
Its future is already freezed this way. Its us who repeat all in the same pattern in its behaviour.

The outcome of The Review Day comes as a disappointment, no doubt about that. It however only confirms that we are living in the times when people prefer to take than to give, to contribute. But that's more of a general reflection from my side...
My personal opinion is that it is the portal's duty to promptly review all new (and old) releases, first and foremost. Spacesynth.net is the only important portal related to spacesynth music. Unfortunately (or fortunately - that depends on a point of view), this puts quite a mission on its admins. Of course, fans contributions are very important and should be most welcome, but the weight of responsibility to provide the content for digestion (reading, listening and such) is on the portal's shoulders. This means not only album reviews, but also any other editorial work, like news, interviews with artists, labels and such.
Alex: we will not review releases from other labels, it is just plain silly idea. Not only because we are competing, but also because we are all biased by definition. If I feel that their artists made great music - I will congratulate them (the artists) in a more personal way (which I already did once or twice). This time you managed to formulate your thoughts in a crystal clear way, pity that the message is not exactly that smart
Cheers,
Mac |

Oh the other hand the prize pool didn't filled up from nothing - there are people who gave away their CDs so others can get these. There's a logic that explains it's vice versa: for review there was a prize - nobody wants it, for such small effort as a review. So people are ready to give more than to take. That's noble, yet if nobody wants to take, giving away is pointless.

Having no reviews on this so called "Reviews Day" shows to me that people of this community are not interested anymore in spaceysnth music. Those who think you are real fans , please correct me if i'm wrong! _________________ http://cdbaby.com/cd/vanello2 |

Nah, it doesn't necessarily mean that people are not interested in spacesynth, I know there are "still" many spacesynth fans out there. People are buying and listening spacesynth (according to different sources) but the community activity is not reflecting the same thing. And, lack of reviews is not our "problem" only. I'm a member of some other music communities that has same kind of issues. Generally speaking, music forums are not as active as they are used to be, lets say, 4-5 years ago. Thats my point of view of the situation. _________________ everdunemusic.com |

Saul, i totally agree with you, but over 600 members and only one review (made by an artist, not a fan) looks dissapointing. I guess what i am trying to say is that fans should get involved more if they want to receive. It's too much pasivity. This is not a business anyway, artists do not make money from this so, most of all, they need to be encouraged. Don't need to do this everyday, just ocasionally on events like this one. _________________ http://cdbaby.com/cd/vanello2 |

oh yes they are, but most of them take it for granted. If now music is freely available and so easily then
compared to this effort to write a review (and think about it) is in their eyes a way too big effort.
for example:
There is not so many who would bother to write long letters, but thats not enough -- are many who wont bother to read even as information pressure increases.

most of them are inactive profiles (and we dont get a way higher number if taking into account read-only members). Also acticity comes in seasons.
The optimistic guess the number of those who are _reading_ is ca 60... And those who write -- well ca 15..20. Those who contribute for something: 3..5 (even polls taking into account). |

Yes, I hear you and I have the same feelings. Making music is a passion and hard work - if all we get is just silence it doesn't feel pleasing. It is disappointing. _________________ everdunemusic.com |
