Compose for Gods instead of Men and you'll never be disappointed again.

I alwais believed everything an artist does comes from God, as he just send a spark to your mind and gives you that thing called inspiration. Why does God do that? Perhaps because an artist has this mission to transmit emotions and feelings to the others and maybe change them somehow in good. It's sad when you see you do not transmit anything to the others. When it's just between you and God, it feels like you did not complete your job.

Fortunately , there are so many ways you can fulfill your musical "mission". Spacesynth was for me just one of them. Maybe i should focus more to the others.

-Should not be disappointed as long as the people register here ... silence is explained by the fact that we do not speak the same language, so communication is very difficult.
Follow this site a long time and still do not understand many things happening here.
are many fans who love this music ..... even many unexpected considering that nobody does anything to promote the radio and TV ...... missing all ... I hope .. still waiting for a miracle .. spacesynt music is an endless story....
Thanks for artists their music makes us happy ..... would be more support from us

Sorry if I did not write correctly in English

With all due respect :MIXXI Smile

Or... for aliens. Smile Good point Prometheus. I also think this in general, community level, not just personal.

This genre is not about big fanbase anyway. Spacesynth is a small underground genre, and creating spacesynth is about love for it. If we want audience, then we should move to another music genres. But personally I rather create something I love than others love. I don't always need to attract everybody. In the first place it is myself.

This small fanbase includes pure fans and musician-fans. It is great that we have fans! They keep also this genre alive by buying CDs and contacting artists with personal messages. Musicians seems to be the most active members here what comes to forum posting etc..

One more addition: as we look the situation back- not many reviews in the past overall either. And according to different sources (like I said previously) I think spacesynth is as big genre as it has been for the last ten years. The "something" still waits for its fulfillment if we want this bigger. Wink

Haha! That's a diplomatic way to compose for neither Gods nor Men. Yeah, I like that! Very Happy

I wrote "Compose for Gods", not "Compose for God". I already believe that an artist has "this mission to transmit emotions and feelings to the others" -- the other Gods... well, not really. Wink

I certainly don't believe that "everything an artist does comes from God". "God" doesn't play your keyboard. "God" doesn't install Cubase. "God" doesn't make the effort to push limits. "God" doesn't force or compel you to do anything. Take pride in your own art instead of giving "God" all the credit for it. It's quite lazy to blame a super-natural man-made entity for your own short-comings (which is the real implication by this arbitrary notion).

However. The expression "compose for Gods not Men" wasn't meant to be taken literally. It's just metaphorism, meant to express that whenever artists replace God with Men, and spice it up further with some kind of Duty ethics (like "I have a duty to compose for others so that I can save their poor souls!") -- well, that's what really puts creativity in the shadows. Nothing will ever be good enough, there will always be some ears on the planet that your missionary music fails to reach. Seems like a really sad perspective, but a perfect formula for building repression and guilt.

Of course, I don't accept any of your intrinsicist premises. What you write constitute a school example of a non sequitur rationalization. But let's suppose for a minute that your conclusion is true. First of all it would mean that art would be useless to create if you were the last man on earth. Second, it would mean that you really insulted God's creations, by suggesting that most men can't create their own art and good emotions for themselves but needs to be filled (passively) by that missionary elite you call "artists". Third... no I don't wish to be polemic about this issue. Let's keep this discussion on a light and friendly level.

Suffice to say is that if (a big IF) I were to accept your premises, then I would also need to ask myself: Do I really invest all this divine inspiration wisely? Isn't it very ungrateful and insulting to this glorious God to cast pearls to swine in a very limited context? Why not first build a strong artistic integrity and an authentic voice, create the art without any shame or guilt, and then inspire the right kind of people with it -- people who aren't afraid to express their own integrity, and therefore to show gratitude in various ways to the artists they value?

That's essentially what I'm saying: It's better to "compose for Gods" (or "aliens", as Saul suggested), simply because you expose an artistic vision with more precision and integrity that way. Rather than being concerned with the opinions of others, you go forward and produce the music you want to hear yourself. Then you can always rest assured that at least one person on the planet will be happy with the music. No need to blame "God" for any activity (or passivity) -- this is something each human being controls by his own efforts.

Let me be perfectly clear about one last thing: It's always good to promote your values, but it's more important to promote them for the right reasons. Otherwise they might backfire on you. Many people in today's world put the cart before the horse and make the response of others their primary concern. No wonder they suddenly loose interest in their passions!

(perhaps time to make my first cig)
Yes, of course.
How many of us have asked from yourself "What is the ultimate goal (if any) of your music making? WHY you make music? When you are really satisfied? What next if album ready?"

Is it ego, money or actually self-development driven?
Are someone satisfied when hearing "wow its great, it has junobass, cowbells and all of Laserdance items"?
Is it just to kick ass when being the best in advanced next things and feeling satisfied feeling elitist? Very Happy
(for example the people are racing on ice with motorcycles becouse it was too easy on a muddy land Very Happy )
Hearing a superb review and recommendation in this local "village"?
Have sold your album with 10, 100, 100 000 copys? (but next year you are history?)

Some reason more?

Also, have ever someone thought what keeps them ticking who already have all of the above?

I guess there are a way too many who will be at first distracted by those reflective shiny objects called money becouse he is busy with everyday life already and no time neither energy to get higher goals.
And... he will be lost of its own way already. Or ... or there are someone who will think that "now I have made album, and got fame/money/feedback, made also second album, but hm, this production circle gets a way boooring, I want totally different in my life from now on" ?!

[edit]
but oh yes, what is quite difficult to make for me, is something like a small humor (advanced funny game for elitists).

Prome, we are getting into philosophical subtilities so i'm not sure it's quite intersting for the others. But there are some things that i have to say. First, when talkin about God, I don't refer to technical activities like using the computers or tweaking the keyboards, i'm only talking about the sparks of creativity which i believe are coming from the divine force.

I never blame God when things go wrong, i usually believe that everything is made with a purpose and when a fail i take this as a lesson of life. That makes me stronger and wiser.
I think every man is borned with a gift, some of them realise that in a moment of their lives, some of them use this gift to help the others (doctors can heal the body or mind, artist can heal the soul), when you have a gift it's a pity not to try to help the others or, in case of musicians, not to share with the others the joy of creation.
I spent a lot of years creating music for my own pleasure. i had no purpose initially and, i honestly, didn't care if anybody would like my stuff or not. I was the one who was supposed to like it and that was about all. But it comes a moment in your life when you realise things are passing so fast that you just feel like you need to share your creation with the others. The same way as you feel you need to have a house, a wife, children etc. so, you make music because you love to see joy or happiness on the faces of your fans, of your friends, of your family.
You share your spark of divinity with the others and this way you feel happy. It's interaction, it's like a change of energy, you give something to people but also you receive back. There's no artists elite there iluminating the poor souls, it's just cosmic energy exchange. Everyone gets his part. Musicians are motivated by public, public want to have more from his musician.
In conclusion, let's compose for men, gods, aliens, animals, worms from the underground, wherever you like as long as you make them happy you will gain your postitive vibration and motivation to go on.
