I did a couple of corrections in the News section, the end of which now goes like this:
In our database you will also find Rygar's unofficial first album from 2001 The Album, with songs from the late 80s.
Joy Peters' new album 'Back To Joy' was also released from Spacesound Records today, whereas Marco Rochowski has produced 1 song (A star in Heaven), and Retronic Voice 2 songs (Asian Heart, Passion of Love).

When the album is available at melodymaker.nl. I buy him right away.
Its a bit strange that you can download the album from the internet before you bought it.
But I see it as a CD album download preview.
The real LaserDance freak wants the 'Original CD' for his LaserDance collection.

Exactly  I've downloaded it as well, but await the hard-copies until Retronic Voice album is ready, and will buy the latest releases in bulk... what's up with the RV album? The artists themselves too claimed it to be ready for sale several weeks ago...

I think, that old LD style is working nowadays much better and fresh with tunes from Vanello and Galactic Warriors. They surpassed The Master van der Kuy in almost every way he discovered in late 80's. Ok, "Power Run" is unreachable, but His Master style has been recovered and reworked in a way, that The Master himself would never reach today (or maybe Michiel is able to do so, but he don't want to do it, I don't know). After first listening of "Modulation" I've found too much sounds from infamous Area 51 period (yes, I find it as a worse synthdance project Michiel was involved into) with plastic, too digital sounds and annoying repeatable patterns, without analogue "poetry" of his 1987 "Star Tracks". But with another few listenings I've found "Modulation" as a great album with full of synthdance magic. There's only one problem - if you play this album for some synthdance freaks as a "blind-test" which means without any previewed composers names, I think that very few would reffer that music to a Legendary Master behind LD. Michiel and Rob did an enormous progress since Area 51, but nowadays they have been beaten by young guys, who listened to them in late 80's. Nevertheless, Rob and Michiel finally found themselves in a niche named Rygar and I gratefully thank to them for "Modulation". |

| Some thoughts after another uncountable listening (I've become an avid fan of this album, which doesn't mean that I love absolutely everything about it) : album's title track is an absolute highlight and classic, the same goes to "Captain of the Universe". The thing I don't like at all is a vocal parts: silently spoken "legend of vitruvian man" line and all those cheesy "huh" and "hah" from "Robotic Voice". Leave it to Humph you guys, you can do it in a much mature way. I forgot to thank to Marek Kolodynski, whose dreams of having MvdK and RvE music finally came true. Watching Rygar's progress, I can't wait for another album! |

I actually find those lyrics in "Captain of the Universe" reference to spoken vocal parts of old classics like "Jabdah" or "Laser Fears". Those were cheesy, too, but in the track of time they gained some magic.
In my opinion the album is better than Area51 albums, but I'll leave my review for feedback week. Anyway, nicely done, Michiel and Rob! |
