Jan Schipper's second album Spiral Galaxy caused some critical tones among our reviewers. In addition to Kaisu's main review, Jouni wrote a very constructive review from producer's point of view. Read on to see our verdict.
Jan was kind to sent us his track Paradise for us to publish in the free music section. It was specially made for the Spacesynth.net forum - so thank you Jan for that.

Paradise pros: very cool chord stabs in the beginning. Producing also sounds good.
Paradise cons: most sounds are quite typical LD sounds. It's a shame that the bassline and pads repeats the same pattern all the time. |

here a introduction for a shop selling this item. (not a DIE HARD Hypersound fan)
i think it's well said.
"This is another fresh offering from the Hypersound Productions label who specializes in synthesizer dance music. Melodic synthesizer melodies bleep and soar over constantly pulsing old-school beats and bouncing bass lines. There is not really any new ground being broken here, but it's another solid production for fans of melodic, instrumental dance music that springs from the early days of synthpop."
I don't want to flame anything up here but some people are a little harsh on reviewing (Ok everybody has the right to their own opion) but to say this CD in not even average (2 Stars) it's just not correct. It's a very good synth dance album. _________________ HYPERSOUND NO 1 In Synthesizer Dance Music

I'm in agreement with Krizz on the song... Nice sounds, and a cool stab/bass motif to start off with, but there needs to be more development in the melodies, beginning with a change in the background pattern. _________________ "Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana." ~ Groucho Marx |

That last paragraph has to be the understatement of the year given you don't even listen to Alpha Centaurii productions. And with the word "harsh" don't you mean "Honest". If you think that the album is great then write a review and explain why it is and don't say "because its from Hypersound" |

I'm impressed by Jan's producer skills. But on the other hand, I'm impressed by anything I can't reproduce myself -- in this case it's the levels of the song. Even turning down the volume to 10% of maximum range the song will sound loud and clear at the same time... amazing.
The melodies could be more catchy, but it's a matter of personal taste. Unfortunately I couldn't integrate them with my preferences at all. |

Let's leave Alpha Centauri out of this thread, it is not our release we are talking about here.
Personally, I think Jan's album deserves more than 2/5, but this is only my opinion as a listener. I see the same problems Jouni is referring to in his review, but I don't find them so distracting. Jan's music has a flow, an energy is there. More variation in instrument use and more catchy melodies would make it at least 4/5 (for me). Gotta agree on the cover artwork, though.
Cheers,

Once again I have to repeat that all reviews subjective opinions. Listen to the samples and make the final judgement yourself.
I knew beforehand that M-Freak couldn't swallow it. Everytime his love is being critisized he makes sure to let everyone know that his world is shattering into pieces. _________________ faroutmusic.net | soundcloud.com/dreamtime-music |

Cool background and stab sounds. So it can be better than album
About melody... For me it seems to be extended club remix version. |
