Rob shared the trumpet sound as sampled wave file once among others.

Just quick test using those sounds: http://www.markvera.net/teasers/test.mp3

MV, that sounds nice. Eventhough the Emax I samples aren't 16 bit/44kHz, I think that the quality is good enough. I got the impression that the trumpet sample was something else than the horn sample that you are using in the soundfile above.
Here are some examples that shows the sounds that I think sound different:

trumpet: trumpet.mp3
horns: horns.mp3

Do you think that they are using the same Emax-sample in these two soundsamples ?

Sounds same one to me. Slightly different EQing and higher notes.

I think the charm of that brass sample could be compared to for example Mellotron or Fairlight samples. Originally it was meant to sound like a real acoustic instrument but fails miserably at that. Instead, it becomes a new unique instrument that works brilliantly in a spacesynth concept.

Yeah.. a bit like 303 too. Was supposed to be real bass sound replacement, but what we get.. Kotobass and Techno acid!

Hello,

Interesting thread. I did a bit of research and nearly all EMAX factory samples were released for EMAX II on CDROMs. The series is named "Elements Of Sound" and consists of 4 volumes. The most important info seems to be that the very same series is also available in Emulator III format. So, if anybody would like to have EMAX factory library in a format that can be converted into WAV files - the "Elements Of Sound vol.1-4" for Emulator 3 (EOS format) is the answer!

Cheers!

Besides the trumpet-sample, are the rest of the leadvoices in this sample from the Emax library too? If so, what are they called ? It would be interesting to see if they are available on the weblink that we mentioned before.

Hmm... how do you achieve that depth in the overall sound? Is it an external hardware reverb perhaps?

Here's my replay of your quick test, but without the same depth in mix for comparison:
