When Michiel van der Kuy and Huib Schippers made their live performance in Hague the 22nd May 1999, Rune Meikle went there together with a friend to see his idol. He had arranged an interview with Michiel through Gerrit Molema from Melody Maker. The interview was recorded on a small taperecorder, and you can find that recording as a mp3-file in the middle of the interviewpage. Note that the recording is in quite poor quality, so it is a little bit difficult to hear the discussion in some parts of the soundfile. We have got help from Rune to transcribed the interview, but in some parts we haven't succeeded to hear the exact words that are spoken. Those parts are replaced with "{??? #1}". If you can help us to find the missing words after listening to the audiofile then please let us know so that we can update the text and make it complete. Write it down in this forumthread and mention which one of the missing words that you know ( {??? #1}, {??? #2}, {??? #3}, etc).

In the audiofile you can hear Rune and his friend Mazzo asking questions to Michiel, and present in the room is also Huib Schippers from Trilithon (his voice can be heard at one place).

We would like to thank Rune for giving us the opportunity to share this material and Michiel for giving his permission to publish this interview.

Would be interesting to hear what his thoughts are now, given so much has happened in the last few years.

Yes, Peter. I believe we'll interview him in the future when he releases a new CD. Rune's interview is naturally a bit dated (as one would expect from an interview that was done 7 years ago) but I think it has some interesting points. After all, there aren't that many interviews with Michiel on Internet so I hope you guys enjoyed it.

Yes, "Koto" is still alive, but he doesn't seem to be able to play the keyboard any longer because of his health problems (parkinsons). You can check out this article about his latest live performance (1993), which explains quite well Anfrando's health:

You can meet Anfrando Maiola in real life at iVenti's big Italo party next month. Information about the party can be found at iVenti's website www.iventi.net, and examples of artists that will be there can be found at the following link: http://www.iventi.net/frontpage.php?id=80 (Koto in that list means Anfrando Maiola).
Marcello d' Azzurro informed me earlier that there will be some wellknown spacesynth musicians at the party (Julius, Rob, Michiel and probably Huib). I don't know if that information is still valid, so you better check with Marcello himself for the latest information. It seems to be a great party and I hope that there will be a lot of pictures taken from that party.

If someone is able to hear the missing words in the interview then let us know so that we can update the transcribed text. For example when Michiel talks about his music equipment it is written like this:

"I've got zip70 and ns50 {???#8}. Polysix. Korg."

I'm not aware of anything that is called "zip70" and "ns50" so I must have heard wrong. Any ideas ?
