I was wondering where I could find the stereotypical, punchy, 80s drum sounds similar to those featured in SZMC's cover of Proxyon's 'Space Hopper.' I'm wanting to start producing Spacesynth so any suggestions or links to resources would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Smile

Hello Spiritdance1995.
You can find some of these sounds here :
http://www.spacesynth.net/files/tutorials/tutorial2/marcodrums.zip
found in this page : http://www.spacesynth.net/Article/Tutorial2-FreeSynths

The drum sounds are all Linn Drum samples.

We found these :
http://trashaudio.com/2012/10/linndrum-lm2-samples/

Maybe some other member can help you with more different linn drum samples , if not try google them maybe you will find those you will like the most . Smile
Also feel free to read through the tutorials some members had the kindness to write Smile they are very helpful.

If you want to sound more spacey - you can cut the Kick and Snare samples from Laserdance - Fear Smile

now that is interesting exMachine! Maybe worth a try just for fun . Smile and look out for example that Proxyon linn snare. So heavy and very hard to replicate these days because of the equipment they had back in the days. It sounds really good with that reeverb they must have used! Smile

That's also something I could try, I've always loved listening to old school pioneers of Spacesynth like Laserdance, Proxyon and Koto.

Don't forget the varying levels of static 'fuzziness' generated from the use of tape recorders in the 1980s, amplifying the vintage overtones of each individual track produced in the mix Smile
