The bellsound from the SQ8L sounds great and can get a even more dreamy feeling if the classic Universe-pad from the Korg M1 is added. Here is a sample: time_melody.mp3
In this sample the universe-patch is playing the same melody-notes as the SQ8L and is not playing some chords in the way pad-sounds are usually used. This sample was made by using the Korg M1 VSTi (the patch is called Universe which is the same one as is played in the intro of Minoan War, in case someone doesn't know that already).
On the album-version of Time there is also another voice playing at the same time as the Ensoniq and Korg synths (some kind of sweeping sound). Do anyone know how that sound is made ?
The Koto-song Time includes even more sounds from the Korg M1. Here is a sample of the patch Stratos played with the Korg M1 VSTi: time_intropad.mp3
It doesn't sound exactly as on the album but it is very close. Probably Michiel played more than just one sound to get his result in the intro. |

I found some material at YouTube from a person that has made an attempt to recreate the sound of the 80s. Here they are:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sPpptwXRrU
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVNiFKnoWAE
It sounds a little bit lo-fi, but it is a nice attempt anyhow.
The latter one seems to include samples from LD (bass-intro reminds of LD's Warriors and the drumsequence sounds very familiar too). The leadsound that starts at position 02'12 sounds nice. |

The new version 0.91b of SQ8L is now available and can be downloaded here. The graphical layout looks a little bit differenct than v0.9b.

I love the sound of my SQ80, but i'm running a bit tight for space so would love a Mac Audio Unit version of this. Hope that Sigi the programmer of the SQ8L, is able to do a Mac port one day. |

untesigh has made some nice spacesynth covers and uploaded them at youtube.
Here are links to some of them in case someone has missed them:
Laserdance - You & Me
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjHRiNjs-Tg
Nice delayeffect on the Orchestra hit sound at position 00m20s.
Proxyon - Space Warriors / Laserdance - Shotgun (into the night)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysfQC0YePRY
The synclead at 02m16s and the trumpet at 03m24s sounds very close to the original version. |

I have to say the arrangement was pretty good and so forth but i dont see the point in doing a remix that is almost identical to the original piece. But he does get an + for the effort! |

Do anyone have a good Orchestra Hit sound to recommend ? I'm searching for the sound that can be heard at position 00'16-00'18 in this sample:

I assume that it shouldn't that hard to find. |

Thanks for the sample. I'm sure that it will be useful some day. This sample has a shorter attack and sounds more modern than the sound that I am looking for right now (I'm trying to get the classical Laserdance/Proxyon sound). Here is another example where you can hear the Orchestra Hit sound at position 00'18-00'33 and 02'27-02'43:
